Custom Framing Your Japanese Woodblock Print in San Francisco

custom picture frame for japanese woodblock by underglass in san francisco

When we started framing this fine art print of Kawase Hasui’s Snow at Funabori Woodblock from 1932, we wanted to give it a framed look that fits the era of the print and the art movement it came from. We chose a rather contemporary, minimal frame design because Hasui was one of Japan’s most important modern printmakers, depicting traditional traditional subjects with a style infuenced by Western art.

If you had an antique Japanese Woodblock that rooted more from the traditional periods ( 17th - 19th century ) we would also look at related frame styles if that is what you like for your interior style.

In any case we would want to make sure your art is protected against sun light, dust and other damage. At Underglass Custom Picture Framing here in San Francisco, we use archival framing materials and museum quality framing techniques. We have applied these custom framing standards since the day we opened and we have been in business for many years ( since 1982!).

Underglass and Art is truly a love relationship. You, our customers, and your art is our priority, we can’t wait to see what your next framing project might be. If you plan on giving a picture frame as a Holiday gift, now is a great time to drop off your art. We have one of the biggest selection of sample frames on our walls to try out on your art and we are open 7 days a week!
