Using color as an option in Picture Framing
For some art pieces a hand wrapped purple silk mat is way too much, but for this @theartistshag piece it wasn’t enough, so we doubled down and used a purple fillet, too! We have so many options as picture framers, why not use them?
Displaying objects in picture frames
We really love the challenge of framing objects! For the first object, We framed this chunk of the Berlin Wall painted by @thierrynoir in a welded steel frame! They’re a match made in neon heaven and now housed in a shadowbox. The second flat art: If you’re in San Francisco, I’m sure you’ve been seeing […]
Watercolor paintings in contemporary frame design
We framed these dreamy watercolor pieces by Kenyan artist @mumbi_muturi here in our San Francisco frame shop. Check out her dramatic and beautiful portrait photography, too! The teak frames added a bit of a softer contrast to the watercolor painings, and floating the art gives the frame design contemporary look.
Two is better than one
Two is better than one, with this beautiful @corey.rood photo that we cut into two to create a diptych and fill the space better. For these beautiful color photo prints we chose a warm wooden frame and an off white mat; a frame design that complements art and space and in this case keeps it contemporary. We […]
Abstract painting for good Monday framing project
We floated this beautiful abstract by @jkamine_art to show off the cool paper and movement in the piece and added a gold fillet to pull on the warmth and small amount of gold in the painting. Perfect piece of art for a framing project and to show off for nice start of the week!
Large Six Foot Tall Portrait Custom Framed
For this colorful portrait of Mexican revolutionary, Emiliano Zapata we opted for a custom frame design with a whitewash maple floater frame to pull on the pink tones in this 6 foot stunning painting and true piece of art. The frame itself is minimal, with a warm touch.
We framed a Wallpaper Diptych!
For this 5×9 diptych wallpaper panels we built a custom black cap gallery frame for a contemporary and clean look. We love being a part of a great design and gallery community here in San Francisco, for this one we collaborated with Stuck Up Wallpaper and Redmond Aldrich Design.
The Best Parts About Being A Customer Picture Framer…
One of the best parts of being a custom picture framer is you never know what you’re going to work on next. If you asked us this morning if we planned on hand sewing a crocheted corndog into a shadowbox we would’ve said….maybe… Our two picture frame shops here in San Francisco have seen pretty […]
Black and White Art doesn’t always need a black or white frame
Often times when people bring in a black and white piece, be it a photo or painting, they think a black or white frame. But it can be interesting to use a metallic to pull on the mid tones in the piece so there’s contrast to both the lightest and darkest points. It’s amazing the […]
Choosing the right frame within a color palette
We love this photograph of a group of farm animals and its color palette of brown tones. Keeping the same feel to it we opted for a similar frame design with a colored wooden frame and a beautiful off white linen mat. Did you know we just opened our brand new Underglass Custom Picture Framing […]
