What is sink float mounted art?
Look at this amazing small watercolor we just sink floated! To frame art in sink float style, all we do ist create depth with one mat that is mounted significantly higher up from the other mat and place the art right into that space that we just created. With this special technique the art floats […]
Weekend Movement with Original Keith Haring Art Framed
We are big Keith Haring fans here at Underglass Custom Picture Framing! Thanks to our client who collects the drawings we are happy to share them with you. We used a washy purple frame to play on the multiple purple tones and movement in these original Keith Haring paintings!
This week’s framing projects at Underglass
We had some very special custom framing projects this past week: From a special gold leafed mat for a California Rodeo poster; we built a shadowbox for some items that were collected from the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles; we played with depth and no color at all because we wanted the full focus to […]
Framing for collectors
We love collectors! Our client saved more than a few political buttons over the years and decided they wanted to display them! There’s so much going on with color and visual texture so we designed an acrylic plexbox instead of a traditional frame to keep it as clean as possible.
Thierry Noir canvas in deep steel frame
We used a pink floater frame to pull on the color and show off the edges of this @thierrynoir piece on canvas and a welded steel frame to hold the Optium Plexi Glass over the piece and keep that street art edge. Museum Quality Framing!
Using color as an option in Picture Framing
For some art pieces a hand wrapped purple silk mat is way too much, but for this @theartistshag piece it wasn’t enough, so we doubled down and used a purple fillet, too! We have so many options as picture framers, why not use them?
Choosing the right frame within a color palette
We love this photograph of a group of farm animals and its color palette of brown tones. Keeping the same feel to it we opted for a similar frame design with a colored wooden frame and a beautiful off white linen mat. Did you know we just opened our brand new Underglass Custom Picture Framing […]
One way to frame a color photograph – keep it simple!
We just framed this amazing color print by photographer Stephanie Kulbach. We love this shot in the mirror with all its reflections and highlights and immediately thought we have to keep this frame design simple. A white wood frame, an 8-ply mat and a conservation framing glass that protects the print from fading. We love […]
Pantone bag framed!
We framed this Pantone bag that was signed by their Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman! In a museum quality framing style, this piece is floated in a seamless acrylic frame I’m a matching color with a black lip to pull your eye to the text. We love all the great projects we get to be part […]
Mark Twain Lion vs Jay Z Tiger
You gotta zoom in on the faces… this piece of art is called “Mark Twain Lion vs Jay Z Tiger.” We floated the paper it in a beautiful reclaimed pine frame from our good friends at Urban Ashes out of Detroit.
