Two is better than one

Two is better than one, with this beautiful @corey.rood photo that we cut into two to create a diptych and fill the space better. For these beautiful color photo prints we chose a warm wooden frame and an off white mat; a frame design that complements art and space and in this case keeps it contemporary. We […]

The Best Parts About Being A Customer Picture Framer…

One of the best parts of being a custom picture framer is you never know what you’re going to work on next. If you asked us this morning if we planned on hand sewing a crocheted corndog into a shadowbox we would’ve said….maybe… Our two picture frame shops here in San Francisco have seen pretty […]

Custom Frame for etching by William Kentridge

We are really exited to show you this large etching and drypoint by William Kentridge custom framed in a silver leaf, closed corner frame, floating on a rag mat with Optium acrylic. We used all museum quality conservation framing methods and materials for this beautiful art. We do get the best pieces to frame here […]

OUR CHURCH STREET LOCATION IS CLOSED BUT…..

YES, IT IS TRUE! After many, many years of Underglass Custom Picture Framing on Church Street we had to move. Our building is undergoing substantial earthquake retrofitting and our beautiful old store will not be the same, nor will it fit our equipment anymore. Our new home will be much larger and brighter! And we […]

Oversized and Framed!

Check out this oversized piece of art we just framed! Here is our latest really amazing oversized custom picture framing project we just finished. It is a pentaptych in a welded aluminum floater frame with a mica dark gray powder coat finish for our good friend at Black Walls Design right here in San Francisco! […]

Playing with color for a still life picture frame

We had fun playing with color with this still life painting! We stacked a lacquered frame inside a gold scoop picture frame with a silk liner to give depth and separation. We love our job as custom picture framers here in San Francisco!

Museum quality shadowbox

We love custom framing projects like this one: For this old wood-handled knife and it’s matching wooden sheath we created a shadow box with black matting and a contrasting whitewash ash wooden frame. We think it’s looking pretty sharp! Museum quality picture framing done right here in San Francisco!

One way to frame a color photograph – keep it simple!

We just framed this amazing color print by photographer Stephanie Kulbach. We love this shot in the mirror with all its reflections and highlights and immediately thought we have to keep this frame design simple. A white wood frame, an 8-ply mat and a conservation framing glass that protects the print from fading. We love […]

Pantone bag framed!

We framed this Pantone bag that was signed by their Executive Director, Leatrice Eiseman!  In a museum quality framing style, this  piece is floated in a seamless acrylic frame I’m a matching color with a black lip to pull your eye to the text. We love all the great projects we get to be part […]

Signed and numbered Andy Warhol lithograph of Jimmy Carter

We were honored to frame this signed and numbered Andy Warhol lithograph of Jimmy Carter here at our picture frame shop in San Francisco. We floated the piece on a dark mat for a strong contrast and to give separation to the clean white frame.
